Problems with JAVA installation in firefox in a LINUX system

Everytime the JAVA people come up with an update my JAVA capability in the firefox browser breaks down.

What seems to be required:

1) Download JRE RPM here: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html

2) Then follow this instructions to create artificial 'links' to a library (this annoying libnpjp2.so)  inside the firefox installation folder:

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/linux_install.xml#rpm

The annoying thing is of course that one does not know the installation folder of something in linux.

In the case of FEDORA 19, which I hope works for Ubuntu as well is

which "program you are looking for" or
whereis "idem"

But that gives you the executable. Use this one instead for a whole bunch of folders:

"find / -name <programm>"


I found mine under /home/pedro/.mozilla/
There you have to create the plugins folder and drop the link like this:

ln -s /usr/java/jre1.8.0_66/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
